The Helicopter on Campus Post

We interrupt this blog for a very important bulletin. At approximately 10AM on Tuesday, August 3rd, the students in News 605 participated in a fake crime scene where a person (a dummy) was killed, and four were injured. In the span of an hour and a half, they witnessed a car accident, heard gunshots fired, saw hostages being taken and a helicopter dock in the middle of campus. And the police department, the bomb squad, the FBI, and the fire department was there too.

"This is insane," a student said.

Afterward, as students were walking away, an arts journalism student can be heard saying, "I don't get why we had to do that. We're arts journalist. We will never ever have to report breaking crime news."

This blogger hopes that the student in question is correct, otherwise. That was too much stress for that early in the morning and without coffee.

Did I mention that they also had actors? And held a press conference with the media?

It was also covered on the local Channel 9 news:

I hope I never have to report a real disaster.
